@my first comment Try using different colored pencils to shade single thing... For example, blonde hair may have more than just yellow in it. It may have brown and orange notes of color in it too. There are lots of different lessons you can find about using color on the internet, or in books. :) Have fun experimenting! Keep up the great work!
