I like the facial expression. Indeed you hair has texture, even so, it could have more depth. You could intensify the shadows of the hair, also in the face. Make the inner of the eye darker, the pupil should be black, so the viewer thinks that your mother is looking at him. There is potential! Work with different pencil lead hardness grades, so you get more variation.
