Mark Gatiss Portrait
Description:
So, there's a tragic story to this one. I get up at 9am, call my bud to see if our plans for ccon mumbai are still on. She not only confirms her presence, but also tells me that she got us passes to meet Mark for a signing. I thought a poster would be too dull and cliched (and i wanted to see mark amazed) so I took three hours to draw this piece, finishing it just in time to get to ccon before the signing hours ended. As my luck would have it, mark up and left before the official ending time because he was feeling under the weather (or so i was told). That was miss #1. Upon my arrival, me and the other few late comers were told to wait for a confirmation on whether or not he'd be meeting the rest of us. I got bored waiting, started sketching at my friend's panel. Missed the announcement. Miss #2. My luck sucks on an unquantifiable scale. Staedtler 2B & 6B, 3 hours.

I like the style, but it does seem too cliche - I don't know this Mark character, but you obviously are fond of him. Though it's a good portrait, I feel it's too clean - and that your real appreciation for him is over shadowed by your wanting to impress him with a 'good' piece. So what we have is a drawing of him, not him drawn - if you see what I mean by that.
