Description:

Medium: 300 LB pumpkin Method:Hand carved with Clay sculpting tools Time: 5 HR Date:10/18/2018 Artist: Stephen J. Vattimo This sculpture was created at the Chad Ford Historical Society's Great Pumpkin Care. This is a live carving event, the carvers have no knowledge of what size or shape the pumpkin is that is assigned to them. The time limit is 4 HR to create with before the judging. This year my design was motivated by deterioration of the American society. The constitution and the Bill of Rights is being encored by politicians ,while they encourage citizen to destroy property and inflict physical violence on people hold different view then their own. These are the same tactics That the Nazis used during the early 1930 in Germany, the party extinguished all other political voice so the only one that was heard was their own. Design explained: The heart is suppose to appear to be made of stone that has stress crack running through it. The heart has a shackle mounted to it, which is attached to a Bald Eagle talents,to prevent it ability to fly. The Heart is position above the Eagle to displace selfish motives place above national welfare. The Eagle head is illustrated in a downward gaze to represent shame. My original design was ti show the Eagle chained to one of it's legs, but the pumpkin was to small to do that. Always have to be flexible and think on ones feet. Their was a miracle of God that took place during this event. The night before the carve i Had a bad case of Gout hit my right ankle, and the pain feel like broke my ankle. Well I think the Devil and God must of had a bet going, That if their were enough obstacle place before me, I would go to the pumpkin carve. I went, I figure if I am going to suffer , I going to make it turn into something good. Would you believe as soon as I started carving the pain was gone, until I finished my creation. Now it back and i haven been able to sleep because the pain. Written by Stephen J. Vattimo 10/18/2018
