They can't stay separated for very long, and eventually recombine after a certain period of time--but training constantly and pushing the limits of endurance help push out the boundaries, little by little. And for those in the back, this is a fan-made Keyblade, it is not a canon one. :P Just wanted to put that disclaimer out there for anyone who may or may not stumble upon this piece and ask which game these came from. :XD:
