Description:
If you're going to comment, can I have proper critiques, as much as it's lovely to see you're comments they do not help me improve my work. I have finished both the whale and the squid, now I have to draw the background. Well, that will be fun!

So nice to see the whale and squid finished...I like what I see very much and personally would feel that this is a finished piece in that I love how the light color of the background brings the creatures forward.

I actually decided not to draw a background for it for the same reasons you have listed. The only thing I added is a blueish shading on the squid to make it darker and make the shading on the whale darker too

Depending on how dark your background, you may wish to darken the shadows on the whale and squid. You did a wonderful job on he whale and squid.
