Sad Day in Mississippi (Description IMPORTANT)

Type: photo Uploaded: 2016-04-18

Description:

This photo is particularly important to me due to recent events happening in my temporary community. These two women are a couple in Mississippi. Recently, in Mississippi, a bill was passed into law called the "Religious Freedom Law". This law goes into effect July 1st and allows people to deny services to individuals based on their sexuality, sexual orientation, chosen gender and if they are trans, ect... Soon human beings, such as my lovely friends here, may be denied transportation services, dinning, marriage certificates, and even health care due to how they love someone else or themselves. It is sad that religion may be used to shield so much hate and discrimination. I am ashamed to be in this state at this time. I have many friends in the LGBTQIA community and ones who are not who are all deeply saddened by this state wide regression. Many have told me they wish to leave the state. I had plans to possibly continue to graduate school here in Mississippi. However, now I am certainly looking towards different states for an unbiased education. Within the states alone there has been much opposition with some companies and corporations from other states saying they will no longer do any business with the state of Mississippi. Here's for hope of re-appeal of this law so that my friends here may come out of the battered corner and face the camera with smiles.

one of the phrases used by the writer Oscar Wilde was - the art itself is useless - meaning that art will always have a purpose , here you are art with tremendous message . great photo , a view point behind .

interesting photo, as well as an interesting reason behind it. That sucks! I mean, being denied services due to sexual preferences is just ridiculous! It's as if people who are not straight are also not human. So ridiculous.

ya, it's pretty nuts that a law like this was even considered in my opinion. thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts.
