I salute your resolve and artistic intuition! Would you be interested in continuing this conversation? Not only do I believe we need to self-educate but also share views on artistic/cultural matters when given the opportunity. In days past traditional artists weren't as isolated as we are today. I'm not an art snob and work very hard to bring back a renewed traditional craft for the benefit of following generations to whom we owe a legacy of quality. But feel free to refuse if not your cup of tea, it's all okay by me.

Having studied art history also academically for me only scratched the surface, leaving me quite unsatisfied, in that sense I'm a Pythagorean. Teaching institutions have been literally and deliberately gutted out of real historical and artistic classical culture. So I can't blame those who haven't received any other sort of traditional apprenticeship, I see them more as uneducated rather than naïve. In these conditions each individual artist needs to take the responsability to adequately educate oneself. True art is the mysterious and living heart of the nature of reality, most would consider this assertion an unbelievable stretch of the imagination and a ridiculous claim. What is craziest is, this is provable scientifically.

Art history, art philosophy, cultural history and history in general of the hidden kind in particular are a serious interest of mine. Being a good art practitioner is my first concern though, as such studying the traditional craft of the old masters is a passion. I share your preference for artists of that period specially the last quarter, in my view they have not really been surpassed technically. I rarely have the opportunity to share this interest even with artists who in the main are superficially interested in such subjects. For me it's a requirement.

Well one can go a long way expounding on Von Stuck mythos in particular and the same for end of 19th century artists and philosophers in general concerning feminine insidious and subversive powers, but I could not render justice to the subject on such a small and not so interested platform like OAC. But I note your personal interest for such comments.
