Chashta et Motmot
Description:
Chashta is a 13-year-old girl, who belongs to a race called the “Nashga”. The Nashgas are lizard like people, with a body of a human, but long pointed ears, long lizard tails and eyes. Chashta's real parents are unknown and, more than likely, dead, so she was adopted by the king and queen. The reason for this is unsure, but it's sure to have something to do with the mark on her face and arm, and the fact that she can communicate with other living creatures in their native tongue. Her ability had earned her respect, the title of a rightful princess and a new friend. A small creature she later named Motmot, meaning "Bestie"in Nashga. Many of us would call it a dragon at first sight, but it's actually a very rare type of bird called a “datta”, meaning “bright”. The name came from their usually very brightly colored feathers and bodies. They might look like dangerous creatures because of their sharp claws and appearance as a dragon, but they are very gentle and loving towards other creature. Nashga children's physical appearance might make them look older, but it's quite normal for Nashgas to mature faster, for miscarriage is a major possibility for Nashgas over the age of 20, so the Nashga race is a small population, meaning that the Nashgas have to start reproducing as young as possible without taking their childhood from them. This system might sound stupid and crazy to us, but it's necessary if they don't want their race to go instinct. Chashta's time of choosing a mate is around the corner and her adoptive parents are in a frenzy at finding her one. But it proved to be a lot harder, for Chashta is very picky when it comes to things. She doesn't just want to find one, she wants to find THE one. After months of trying to get Chashta to pick one of the waiting Nashgas, the king and queen have no other choice but to send her off to find her husband-to-be herself. Chashta couldn't be happier to go and see the world by herself, of course Momot is joining her, too. --------------------------------------------------------- NOTES "et" means "and" in French "Chashta" means "tongueless" in Nashga (I'll let you think about this one for a while) Chashta is pronounced Cha-sh-ta Motmot is pronounced Mo-mo(t) Nashga is pronounced Na-sh-ga Betta is pronounced Be-tta
