Even the Stars, They Burn

Wanted to try something different, do a full background while keeping colors and lines simple. I have a really hard time not going super detailed, especially with clothes seams and details blah! I've been drawing Rain and Kaje for nearly 15 years. While they are two of my most central characters, in the last couple years I have really eased off on drawing them, this is mostly because I feel like I know them really well. Drawing my characters for me is like storyboarding, while I'm drawing I think all about them trying to figure out what's happening in the picture, their thoughts and their lives. Every stroke helps me better understand who they are. Since I've drawn Kaje and Rain so much I sometimes feel like there isn't a lot left to learn from them, hence me drawing more distant characters in my universe more. The upside is I am getting a better feel for my side and background characters, but the downside is I have very little modern art of my primary characters and that just won't do Characters: Kaje and Rain Series: Rain Tools: Photoshop CS6 + Wacom Intuos tablet
