Love all the nuanced shading, and there's lots of energy and motion in the pose. Leaving the background white probably would have made for a stronger silhouette and improved the contrast of the image overall. I can't help but think the eye looks kinda wide, and the way it slopes upward toward the ear seems odd for a horse. Typically the inside corner of the eye slopes downward toward the nose, and levels off toward the outside corner. (It's hard to describe verbally, sorry).
