Is this persons face a bruised bleeding pulp ? Cool blood smears on the shirt. Strange face - it looks like a profile and also a straight on face. Dirty matted hair blood soaked hair. I like it !

I don't think this art work is edgy at all and I think you put plenty of work into it. Going off the paper with an image is much better than having it centered and causing tension to the edges, especially for what you are portraying here. It is a good composition. Im an art major taking college classes, and some very AMAZING art work looks barely touched or an almost blank piece of paper. Sometimes its not about what it looks like, its about the thought and the process. Before I got to college I didnt understand that and criticized famous artworks for just having a line before understanding its significance. In your case I think its was thought out and it is valued. Don't EVER get discouraged by really bad critiques.
