A bird species in the Warbler Family, the Painted Redstart is a specialty of the borderlands of the American Southwest. It is the only known member of its genus that regularly occurs in the US and is unique among American warblers for its calls and its unmistakeable foraging methods. This is a bird of exceeding beauty and grace. A small songbird, the Painted Redstart is black above from head to tail with large white patches on the wings and white outer tail feathers. They have a bright, rich red patch on the belly and lower breast. These are stunning birds!
