I know the parrot is red. I mentioned the purple and yellow weirdness for future piece in case you were using either colour later. This is you're first try?? Well done!

If you use a green to shade the red it will add more depth. There's just something about mixing opposite colors that makes a natural looking shading. I suggest playing with it on scratch paper before applying it to a piece. (It takes a little getting used to. Purple also does weird stuff to yellow.) Wonderful proportions. The bird really looks like he's flying. :)
